Reactions to Traumatic Events

Memories are haunting you regularly, even when you sleep. You are afraid to close your eyes because there it is, the horrible event. Your relationships, your work, your sense of safety are compromised, or you are trying so hard to make it unnoticeable that it wears you down. There is a disconnection of your mind/body which makes you feel numb. Your body reacts without you being able to control it. You had embraced avoidance as a way to protect yourself, limiting you to a fragmented sense of who you are.

You want to make sense of what happened and ready to live your life to the fullest without letting the past interfere with you. Imagine you able to work on those memories, so they no longer hunt you.

You are ready to put those experiences where they belong, in the past

I integrate different therapeutic modalities in treatment, and with trauma, I offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR).  The many resources learned in sessions and the reprocessing of traumatic memories or unhelpful beliefs will allow us to work integrating the whole self (mind, body, and feelings).

The EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) describes the process in detail, click here if you would like to learn more about this powerful treatment approach. If you would like to explore treatment options, schedule a consultation today.
